2019 Monthly Wellness Tips – 12 things you can do towards Health

January

Get rid of toxins in your home! So often we think of being healthy as eating right, exercising and getting enough sleep. There are so many other things we can do to support our bodies in being able to detoxify, heal and repair so we can live our best lives.

This month I’d like to focus on the products you use in your home.  As you can imagine, in order to “magically” remove stains, or quickly dissolve grime, there have to be chemicals involved to be able to do that. There are times when the harsh chemicals are called for, but for everyday household cleaning, the more we can remove toxins, the healthier we can be. You see, our bodies have to process all of those toxins we breathe, ingest, and absorb through our skin or other membranes. A simple way lessen that burden is to replace the current products you use with non-toxic substitutions. Now if you’re like me, you don’t want to simply throw everything out, but if you’re inclined to do that, go for it! Otherwise simply replace items as you use them up with cleaner versions. Some new “green” products will require more elbow grease to get the same results, but your body will thank you in the form of better health.

Some products to look at include: Laundry soap, fabric softener, dish and dishwasher soap, tub and toilet cleaners, floor cleaners, surface wipes, stain remover, glass cleaner, disinfectant, and air fresheners to name a few. The Environmental Working Group (ewg.org) has a whole website that you can view the products you use and see how they rank along the toxic spectrum. One thing I added in my home that I really like is Norwex products. I have their dryer balls which have replaced dryer sheets for me (and I add essential oil for fragrance), and I have the window cloth that delivers streak free windows and mirrors using just water and the towel. I’m not a Norwex consultant, but can put you in touch with someone if you’re interested – just pm me!

I hope that by making just a few of these changes, the toxic load your body has to deal with every day is lessened, and you notice over time that you and your family feel so much better.

Happy New Year!
